Protect with Corrosion Control – Protect your budget
As long as there’s been steel, there’s been a need to protect it. Corrosion can slowly destroy your most important assets. With advancements of thermal spraying technology, metalizing has emerged as the best corrosion protection solution available. At MTM Metalizing, we use IMC’s patented own electric arc spray technology that meets demanding specification for quality, durability and speed of application. As a result, metalizing now delivers an unmatched service life, with a much lower life cycle cost and an upfront project cost that is competitive with conventional coating.
Capability
Our metalizing machines are manufactured by IMC in New Jersey, USA and registered with the United States Patent Office and the Paris Convention of Countries. Very fast deposition rates of more than 100 square meters per hour at 250 microns thickness can be achieved which equals and exceeds airless paint systems. Any metal that can be put in wire form can be metal sprayed with these machines. They can also apply different metals at the same time to form an instant alloy. Rough or smooth surfaces can be produced by varying air pressure, along with an adjustable spray pattern for small or large applications.
Micrograph studies substantiate that this process is the only thermal spray application that has no porosity. The “American Bureau of Shipping” has issued certifications for Zinc and Aluminum applications performed by these machines.
After extensive testing, including accelerated corrosion tests, DNV has given type approval under IMO / PSPC requirements for Metal Sprayed Zinc Coating, applied by MTM metalizing to be used for Ballast Tank coatings for vessels. This is believed the first “Alternative Coating” approval issued under the IMO guidelines. The application speed that the IMC equipment produces, allows for the first time metalizing to be used as a realistic alternative for ballast tank coating.
